Hosting:
- GoDaddy.com - for small websites ($3.95/month), and small dedicated servers ($109/month +).
- Yahoo Hosting - for small websites. They have great features.
- Northstar Computers - small sites that require ASP & .NET ($10/month +)
- MaximumASP - Medium sites that require .NET & SQL. (I recommend the VPS products at MaximumASP - $199/month. If you need a dedicated server use RackSpace.)
- Rackspace - Dedicated servers. Excellent Support. ($350/month +)
- Data Return - Top of the line Dedicated Servers and complete application monitoring. ($1,800/month +)
eCommerce:
- Pay Pal - Free Shopping cart, no monthly fees. Great starter / small business option.
- Yahoo Stores - If you want an online store, this is the place to start. You can be up and running with a store very quickly, even the same day if you have a merchant account.
The real work of running a store is marketing. I suggest you get the store up as quickly as possible, and get some experience marketing your products. You can ALWAYS come back and make your Yahoo store as fancy as you want in the future.
- 1 Shopping Cart - Complete online shopping cart, autoresponder and affilate program. You need to make your website independently.
Email Lists:
- A Weber - Amazing Auto-responder system. ($19.95/month or $179.95/year)
- Constant Contact
 - Free Trial. Complete email system with tracking. Pricing based on number of recipients. ($15/month +)
- Vertical Response
 - Complete email system with tracking. Pricing based on number of emails that are sent. ($15 for 1,000 emails. Lower pricing for higher volumes.)
- Lyris Hosted - If your volumes are high. ($200/month +)
- Lyris - Email list software. Expensive, but sophisticated and can handle big volumes. (pricing varies depending on features - requires a dedicated server)
- Mailman - Free list software based on Python. (Free)
Email Hosting:
- Gmail - Free, tons of space, works great.
- MailStreet - Exchange Hosting, they also offer Mail Defender Anti-spam & Anti-virus. ($9.95/month)
Anti-spam / Viruses:
- Spam Arrest - 30 day free trial. (6 Months = $19.95, 1 year = $34.95 )
- Tucows - Reseller MXLogic - For $99, you can sign up as a Tucows Reseller, and then get the MXLogic Mail Defender
Anti-spam, anti-virus system. I use it personally, and it is excellent. Cost is around $0.30 per user, per month.
Keyword Research for Google, Overture and Search Engine Optimization:
- Word Tracker - If you do anything with keywords: Google, Overture, Search Engine Optimization... you must have this tool.
Copy writing: - Don't do it yourself.
Branding: - Also don't do it yourself.
- Rob Frankel - Knows his stuff. I recommend the Frankel Call. It is the best value he has. You get to pick his brain, at a fraction of the cost of hiring him on a contract basis.
